Workspaces
1 What is it?
A workspace is a kind of a Repository, shared with several users and / or groups, each with his own rights.
When you add Content Objects to a Workspace, they are automatically shared with the users and / or groups in this Workspace. .
Mind : users do not get an announcement when you share a content object with them. You have to send them a separate message.
2 Steps / elements
- In the menu at the top, click Workspaces - Manage workspaces
- You see 4 tabs:
- My workspaces: all the Workspaces you have created
- Workspaces shared with me: the Workspaces shared with you
- Favorites: lists the Workspaces with direct access from the menu at the top
- Create workspace: click this to create a new Workspace
2.1 Create a Workspace
- Get a title and a short description for the new Workspace
- Click Save
- Settings for your new Workspace:
- Users / groups: who do you want to share your Workspace with? One single user, several users or a platform group?
- Rights:
- View
- View + Add
- View + Add + Edit
- View + Add + Edit + Delete
- May publish content: thick this off if the users in your Workspace may publish your content in their courses. You remain the owner, and as such, you have the responsability of the content and modifications to it.
- Copy allowed: thick this off if users in your Workspace may copy your Content Objects to their own Repository. In this case, they are free to edit your Content Objects. They become the owner of the copy and they can edit it. These changes don't affect your original Content Object..
- Co-Course manager: when you thick this off, users of a Workspace will have THE SAME rights as the owner of the Workspace: manage rights, edit content, even delete the entire Workspace. Use this option with care!
Mind: when you add Content Objects to a Workspace, they are automatically shared with the users and / or groups in this Workspace.
